‘Student Music Summit’ was organized on 02/02/2020 by Vyas Sangeet Vidyalaya at ‘Vanmali Auditorium’, Dadar.
In order to address the musical qualities of students Vyas Sangeet Vidyalaya organizes various programs on quarterly basis and always gets the best response. This summit was one of that kind where connoisseurs appreciate it, music lovers enjoy it and the students await it.
The program started with the lightening of lamp by Pandit Vidyadhar Vyas, Shri. Subhash Vyas and Shri. Prabhakar Kulkarni. After that, the students of Ms. Swarali Sawant Madam sang prayer ‘Jai Jagdish Hare’ which was composed by Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar. All the senior teachers of the Vyas Sangeet Vidyalaya along with Shri. Subhash Vyas was part of this special performance.
Last year in 2019, Pandit Vidyadhar Vyas was awarded with the prestigious ‘Tansen Award’ by the Madhya Pradesh Government, on this occasion Ms. Swarali Sawant Madam felicitated Panditji with shawl and coconut (as a symbol of auspicious action) on behalf of all teachers and students of Vyas Sangeet Vidyalaya.
Shri Subhash Vyas Sir who always encourages for such innovative programs and Shri Prabhakar Kulkarni Sir, who carry out important tasks such as daily transactions, admission and exams in the Vidyalaya was felicitated by Shri Govind Kalsekar and Shri Vilas Kundekar.
In the main event, students from various streams such as Vocals, Tabla, Harmonium, Violin and Sitar presented their performance. There was so much variety and it was a musical feast for the audience as well.
In the singing section, the male singers performed songs based on Raga Bhimapalasi and Raga Kafi along with Aalap and Taan. Female singers group presented Raga Bhopali, Kafi, Des, Bihag and Kedar. One of the interesting part after singing every Raga, the singer sang Hindi / Marathi songs based on those Ragas. So, the audience was quickly relating those songs to the respective Raga and there was spontaneous applaud for each of these performances.
The song that attracted special attention was based on Raga Des and it was performed under the able guidance of Ms. Swarali Sawant Madam, the song ‘Man Mandira Tejane’ and its fast Sargam composition won the hearts of audience.
In the Tabla section, students of Shri. Arun Kundekar Sir and Shri. Govind Kalsekar Sir of various age groups presented their skills with great execution on Tabla. Taal Tritaal was prominently performed with its Kayda, Tukade, Chakradar, Tihai and made audience to experience most visceral and memorable forms of musical engagement.
Under the guidance of Shri Vilas Kundekar Sir in the Harmonium section, all the students made a remarkable presentation of music on harmonium. Audience was amazed by the synchronized and very well-planned musical accompaniment by harmonium players.
In the Violin section, students performed various songs beautifully, based on various Raga’s and the audience could reflect their emotions by singing along with the Violin. Ms. Shalaka Deshpande Madam took great efforts along with her senior students to organize Violin groups and ensured that the performance could exhibit great level of musical experience.
Shri Chitrangshu Srivastava, a disciple of Pandit Vidyadhar Vyas, presented a bandish ‘Vaishnava Jan To’ based on Raga Khamaj and Shri Dheeraj Parashar, Panditji’s second disciple, ‘Mano Mano Humari Batia’ in Raga Sarang.

The enduring presence of the music lovers in this summit was a great acknowledgment of the event.
