Music festival was organized on 4th and 5th November, 2017 at B.N.Vaidya Auditorium in Dadar, Mumbai on the occasion of celebration of 80th anniversary of Vyas Sangeet Vidyalaya.

The festival was inaugurated on 4th November, 2017 by recital of prayer "Jay Jagdish Hare" by students of Vyas Sangeet Vidyalaya.

It was followed by felicitation of guests of honour and teachers with memento and Angavastram. Pt.L.K.Pandit, Pt.Sharad Sathe, Pt.Shankar Abhyankar, Pt.D.K.Datar, Pr.Arun Kashalkar, Pt.Vidyadhar Oak, Shri Manish Kumar, Shri Arvind Vaidya were guests of honour. Music teachers like Shri M.P.Joshi, Shri Shrikant Waikar, Shri Murli Manohar Shukla, Pt.Arvind Mulgaonkar, Shri Chintaman Abhyankar, Shri Anand Khemkar, Shri Prabhakar Kulkarni were honoured for their valuable contribution in teaching and spreading knowledge of Indian Classical Music among masses.

A CD of Pt Narayanrao Vyas, 2 books namely "Vyas Kruti – Adhunik Sadarang : Pt.Shankarrao Vyas – Transliteration" by Dr.Bharat Bhushan and "Raagdari Yukta Bhakti Rachanaen – Pt.Vishnu Digambar Paluskar Ke Prayog" by Dr.Vineet Goswami were published on this auspicious occasion.

Shri Suresh Chandwankar presented an audio video visual of various compositions created by Pt.Shankarrao Vyas and Pt.Narayanrao Vyas.

First day celebration was concluded with Pt.Bhajan Sopori and his son Shri Abhay Sopori’s melodious santoor recital. Shri Mithilesh Jha and Shri Rishi Shankar Upadhyay accompanied them on tabla and pakhwaj respectively.

On second day of the celebration 5th November,2017, morning session began with recitals by students of Vyas Sangeet Vidyalaya. Vocal singing performance by Ms.Sanika Goregaonkar, Shri Anand Oak and Dr.Vineet Goswami, violin recital by Smt.Shalaka Deshpande won applauds of the audience. Shri Shriniwas Acharya and Shri Bhushan Parchure accompanied all artists on harmonium and tabla respectively.

Evening session began with wonderful sitar performance by Prof.Suneera Kasliwal Vyas. She is Head Of Department of Music and Lalit Kala at Delhi University. Shri Girish Nalawade accompanied her on tabla.

Vocal singing recital by Smt. Neelaxi Juvekar was next music treat to the audience. She is an ex-student of Vyas Sangeet Vidyalaya. She acquired her music lessons from Pt.Shankarrao Vyas and Pt.Narayanrao Vyas. She was accompanied by her student during the recital.

Pt.Rajan Kulkarni and Shri Sarang Kulkarni enlightened the audience by their wonderful sarod performance. They were accompanied by Shri Girish Nalawade on tabla.

The ceremony concluded with melodious vocal singing performance by Gayanacharya Pt.Vidyadhar Vyas. Shri Bhushan Parchure and Shri Shriniwas Acharya accompanied him on tabla and harmonium respectively.

The function was well anchored by Shri Keshav Paranjpe.
